Viraj Sashankan

Viraj joined Allsports after completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. With a strong passion for basketball, Viraj has been involved in the sport as both a player and coach across school, club, representative, and Special Olympics levels. These experiences have shaped his understanding of how physiotherapy can support injury management, enhance performance, and deliver effective rehabilitation with a focus on long-term injury prevention.

Viraj enjoys all areas of physiotherapy, with a particular interest in the assessment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries and lower limb conditions. Throughout his studies, he gained valuable experience working as a sports trainer with both elite and community teams, including Olympic FC, Jindalee Jags AFC, and the Tasmanian Men’s and Mixed National Netball teams. He has also volunteered with high-performance athletes at the Gather Adjust Prepare Sustain (GAPS) Camp and assisted at the ANZAC Day AFL Cup.

Viraj is currently the Head Physiotherapist for the Jindalee Jags AFC, is qualified in Dry Needling, and is completing his ASCA Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Accreditation to further enhance his evidence-based approach to rehabilitation and performance.

Outside of the clinic, Viraj enjoys playing social basketball, spending time on the golf course, and supporting his favourite sporting teams.
