Multidimensional Sports Coaching

About Us

When the thought first enters your head to do “that” race, it’s shimmery, butterfly-inducing, sometimes fear-invoking. You hit the register key and get a rush of blood; “there, I’m locked in, no way back, I’ve done it”! Sometime later reality hits and you comprehend that you have far from “done it”. It is at this point you start thinking about how you might get to the race. You could contemplate an online program, or training with a mate, or a club. Have you ever considered the number of different factors that go into successfully getting to the start and finish lines? Achieving your race goal is about so much more than following a static, one-size training plan. It’s about:

  • Understanding your strengths and limiters, and prioritising how to work on these
  • Adapting your training for your age, gender, lifestyle, and level of experience
  • Having knowledge about equipment (e.g. which race wheels are right for me? Should I spend $400 on new shoes?)
  • Understanding where to find the right support services (e.g. Sports physicians, Physios, Exercise Physiologists, and bike fitters)
  • Working around what life throws at you
  • Eating to support your health and training
  • Integrating training positively with, and for your health status
  • Measured return after injury
  • Managing your output to achieve consistency (showing the discipline to back off when you need to, and go hard when it’s time)
  • Getting your head right both on an off-day, or after a disappointment, and to face the big event
  • Having support and encouragement, and someone to help keep the motivation up, in the depths of winter, when you have to attend a 4.30am swim squad!

At MDSC we appreciate the journey that every individual takes, in their own time, on their own terms to achieve their goal. We know that there is far more than just the physical dimension to your training and success.

  • When you join the MDSC team we make a commitment to your development. That means timely feedback, programming and communication.

  • Without having balance in life there is the very real prospect that training can turn into obsession and become a destructive force in your life. More than anything we love to see smiling athletes, that have a passion for their sport and want to continue to participate and perform for life. We look at you as a holistic person rather than just an athlete that we put through ‘paces’.

Testimonials

Kirsty is everything I believe makes a good Coach. She always gives 110% and often goes above and beyond what other Coaches would give of their time. She genuinely cares about you, the person. She works with you to bring out the best of your abilities and helps you improve on the weaknesses. I believe that anyone who chooses to have Kirsty as their Coach would not be disappointed.

Fiona Lodge (60-64yr AG)

Kirsty helped me to overcome injuries related to overtraining without compromising my race goals. She is very supportive and caring with her athletes and her knowledge and experience in triathlon is a real asset. I wouldn’t consider starting my next season without her on my side.

Lou Brillault (male 30-34yr AG)
