Allsports Physiotherapy Southport has been established since October 2005, although collectively, the directors have been practising on the Gold Coast for more than 15 years and have over 20 years experience in providing the highest quality of health care.

As a clinic we pride ourselves in our quality of care and standard of treatment. As a team, we co-ordinate our efforts to ensure optimal outcomes for our individual clients. We adopt a hands-on approach to practice, with an emphasis on self-directed management and treatment.

The clinic
Allsports Physiotherapy, Southport is a spacious and well-equipped facility including a specialised rehabilitation gymnasium and various treatment rooms. We are located at the northern end of Scarborough Street, opposite the Southport Drive-In Dry Cleaners. We have excellent access and
off-street parking is available for patients.

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Belinda Nielsen (nee Goldie)
Belinda graduated from the University of Queensland in 2000 and has worked in various settings in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has a particular interest in sports related injuries and spinal pain. She is also a certified pilates instructor.  Belinda’s management approach is comprehensive, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing underlying biomechanical factors that may be contributing to a person’s symptoms ensuring optimal recovery from injury. Belinda believes strongly in tailoring treatment, as well as exercise-based self management programs, to individual client needs. Belinda’s excellent communication and interpersonal skills guarantees her clients a good understanding of their injuries and why particular management strategies are employed.  Belinda is currently the team physiotherapist to the Gold Coast United Football Team, Gold Coast Blaze Basketball Team and Delta Gymnastics Team.

Dr. Kerrie Evans, PhD
Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Kerrie has a Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and specialises in the assessment and management of people presenting with neck and back pain. Kerrie is the first physiotherapist on the Gold Coast to hold the title of Clinical Specialist. Clinical Specialists are physiotherapists who have undergone an intensive examination process, which involves demonstrating advanced clinical skills and evidence-based practice.

Kerrie completed her PhD in 2007 and resulted in several international publications. The focus of her PhD was low back pain amongst golfers. Consequently, the other focus of her private practice work is injury prevention and management for golfers of all abilities. Kerrie conducts workshops for the Professional Golfer’s Association of Australia, for other physiotherapists and is frequently invited to present at corporate events. Kerrie is the Consultant Physiotherapist for Warner Village Theme Parks and is a Lecturer at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.

Michelle Kneebone
Michelle Kneebone graduated from Griffith University Gold Coast with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science. This double degree supports Michelle’s keen interest in sports rehabilitation and exercise prescription. Michelle has developed her knowledge through her work in sports physiotherapy practices in Queensland. Michelle is a middle distance competitor and has long been interested in a holistic approach to the management of sporting injuries. She has a sound understanding of training principles and specific movements involved with a wide range of sporting activities, and has a strong interest in the integration of lumbar and pelvic dysfunction with lower limb biomechanics. Michelle is the Consultant Physiotherapist for Warner Village Theme Parks, the Southport Sharks Football Team and Gold Coast Blaze Basketball Team.

Sean Horan
Sean completed his degree in Exercise Science at Griffith University (1998) and then a Master of Physiotherapy at Griffith University (2001). He is currently enrolled in a PhD at Griffith University investigating back pain in golfers.

Sean has worked as a physiotherapist in a variety of settings including private practice, private and public hospitals, for various national and international sporting teams, and as a sessional Lecturer for the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, Griffith University.

His career has taken him across the globe to the United Kingdom, where he worked in a busy private clinic working with a large number of clients with diverse backgrounds. Sean's qualifications give rise to a broad range of skills which enable him to assist a variety of individuals, from the dedicated office clerk to the professional athlete.

Sean has up-to-date, evidenced-based experience in the treatment and assessment of spinal pain, the management of sporting injuries, including strength and conditioning programs. Sean also has a special interest in injury prevention and injury rehabilitation of golfers and the biomechanical analysis of the golf swing.

Rick Bain
Rick completed an Exercise Science degree in 1998 and then his Master of Physiotherapy in 2002, both at Griffith University. Upon graduating, Rick worked at Logan Hospital for 2 years before relocating to London. Rick spent 5 years working in a large London hospital outpatients department, developing skills in the management of a wide range of acute and chronic neuromusculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on functional rehabilitation. Rick played representative soccer on the Gold Coast for many years and has represented Queensland in futsal (indoor soccer). Rick has had the opportunity to work with many semi-professional soccer players in London. He has a special interest in injury prevention and management for athletes. Rick is also a keen runner and avid inline skater for which he is an ICP certified skating instructor.  Rick is currently the team physiotherapist for the Gold Coast United Football Club.

Karyl Peyrolle
Karyl has completed his Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy and has been involved with the Allsports Physiotherapy organisation since 2004. He has recently relocated to the Gold Coast where he has joined the Allsports Southport team having previously worked 5 years at Allsports Red Hill in Brisbane.

While at Allsports Red Hill, Karyl gained extensive experience in the assessment and management of injuries sustained during contact sports having worked with groups such as GPS Ashgrove Rugby Union Club, Western Districts Panthers and Norths Devils Rugby League Club. In 2010, he was appointed as the Queensland Cup Head Physiotherapist for the North’s Devils which allowed him to further develop his clinical skills both from an acute care and rehabilitation perspective. He has a particular interest in the treatment of elite level football athletes as well as injuries involving the knee, groin and ankle. Karyl has extensive experience in providing rehabilitation programs for people who have had knee and lower limb reconstructions having previously worked with a leading Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Brisbane Private Hospital.

Karyl is the consultant physiotherapist for Warner Village Theme Parks which encompasses the care of all staff at Movie World, WetnWild, Australian Outback Spectacular and Sea World. Karyl is also the team physiotherapist for the Gold Coast United Youth Team.

Simon Morris
Simon graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2005.  Since graduating, Simon has also gained qualifications in Western Acupuncture and Dry Needling. He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of sports and musculoskeletal injuries.

Having played representative Rugby Union and Rugby League, Simon developed a particular interest in the management of football injuries.   Simon spent five years at the Indooropilly Allsports Clinic and during this time he was the Team Physiotherapist for the Australian Universities Rugby League and the St Peter’s College Rugby First XV.
As team physiotherapist for the Australian Universities Rugby League Team, Simon toured several times both nationally and internationally.  On tour, Simon provided on-field coverage, pre and post match treatment as well as ongoing treatment.  Through his extensive experience as a team physiotherapist, on-field coverage and knowledge of the codes gained from his playing experience, Simon has a comprehensive understanding of contact sport injuries and is able to apply this knowledge to the rehabilitation and return to sport programs he develops for his patients.

PODIATRIST

Wade Ellis
Wade provides professional diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

He has completed a Bachelor degree in Health Science at Griffith University on the Gold Coast and a Bachelor degree in Podiatry at Brisbane’s Queensland University of Technology.

Wade cares for patients of all ages and varying conditions resulting from postural and gait abnormalities, bone and joint disorders, soft tissue and muscular pathologies, as well as neurological and circulatory disorders.

Although he is a keen surfer, he also has a special interest in lower limb biomechanics and the treatment of sports related injuries resulting from Football, Basketball and Running. Wade is also located at the Southport Sharks Allsports Clinic, where he treats Sharks’ club members, recreational sportspeople and elite athletes.
 
Wade is a member of both the Australian Podiatry Association and the Queensland Sports Podiatry Group.

MASSAGE THERAPISTS

Brian Doll
Brian has been a massage therapist for 16 years. He trained in Melbourne and has specialised in therapeutic, sports and relaxation massage. He is highly experienced, professional and offers his clients a broad range of soft tissue techniques. Brian can include, trigger point, deep tissue and varied stretching techniques as well as oriental therapies in his massage.

MUSCULOEKELETAL GP

Martin Clarke
Martin has been one of the partners of Emergency Medical Group that runs the Pindara Private Hospital Emergency Centre for 20 years. In the last 4 years he has advanced his interest in sports injuries and musculoskeletal medicine with completion of the following : Post Grad Diploma of Musculoskeletal Medicine at Otago University; Post Graduate Certificate in Manual Therapy; Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Sports Rehabilitation; and Cert 4 in Fitness. He has a particular interest in sport, and related injuries. He travelled with Bernard Tomic on the professional tennis circuit as his fitness trainer in 2009, and is currently the team doctor for the Gold Coast Titans NRL side.

Matt consults to individual athletes, national and state sporting organisations, schools and colleges, and private academies. This work covers many different areas of sport psychology from performance issues (e.g., building confidence, maintaining motivation, enhancing focus, performing under pressure) to more general psychological concerns (e.g., stress management, managing depression and anxiety, recovery from injury, weight management, pain management).
 
Matt is currently involved with a number of sporting groups including QAS Golf, ASC Canoe/Kayak NTID squads, Pat Cash International Tennis Academy, The Australian PGA, The Australasian Golf Academy, and Motorcycling Queensland. Allira is currently involved with a number of sporting groups including the Gold Coast Academy of Sport, Robina Golf Excellence Program, Palm Beach AFL squad, and Miami High Performance Tennis Academy. Moira Lockhart
Speech therapists are responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and management of communication disorders in people of all ages. Moira has a specific interest in accent modification, articulation, corporate training, stuttering, hearing loss and voice.
