SHERWOOD – SPECIALTY CLINICS

In 2007 Allsports Physiotherapy Indooroopilly expanded its services to establish two specialty clinics situated together in one brand new facility at 3/659 Sherwood Road at Sherwood. The clinic is conveniently located opposite Woolworths and The Coffee Club on Sherwood Road and is within short walking distance of public transport. There is easy parking on the street or on site.

Allsports Pilates Sherwood on the upper level is a fully equipped, air conditioned Pilates studio offering a range of individual or group Pilates sessions. The classes are conducted and supervised by Pilates trained physiotherapists and therefore are eligible for rebate under most levels of health insurance cover. The clinical pilates programs are designed by a physiotherapist following a thorough assessment and real time ultrasound testing.  All programs are individualised to achieve the best possible outcome.

Allsports Paediatrics
offers physiotherapy services exclusively to children and adolescents.  Our aim is to optimise your child’s physical development and functional performance from infancy through to adulthood.

Our aim is to create a fun, dynamic exercise environment for children so they may enjoy programs specifically designed to optimise their physical development.

Nicole Haynes

Nicole has enjoyed working with children for many years.  Before becoming a physiotherapist Nicole completed a Bachelors Degree in Human Movement Science and spent a number of years working as a personal trainer which included developing school gym programs and implementing strength programs for physically disabled children.  Nicole has also worked as a swimming instructor/coach and spent 4years abroad working as a nanny.

Upon completion of her physiotherapy degree Nicole followed her passion to become the managing partner of the Allsports Paediatric clinic at Sherwood; with the aim to provide physiotherapy services exclusively to children and adolescents.

Nicole provides physiotherapy services for children of all ages. She has developed and coordinates
Hard Core Kids® which is a unique class-based program specifically designed to optimise the physical development of children.  Nicole understands the impact a child’s physical profile may have on all areas of a child’s development and enjoyment of life.  She gets immense satisfaction from helping children achieve their potential.

Sarah Ring

Sarah has always had a passion in providing physiotherapy services for children.  Through her physiotherapy studies Sarah pursued this in the form of research.  Sarah was involved in a study at the Royal Children’s Hospital that investigated the effects of a new exercise program for children with Cystic Fibrosis.  This program was designed to improve the children’s muscle length and strength whilst in hospital.

Sarah works full time as a physiotherapist at the Glenleighden School in Fig Tree Pocket.  Through this work Sarah has developed a particular interest in the impact of a child’s physical profile on their academic and social emotional development.  Sarah works with the students to optimise their sensory and motor development to facilitate achievement of educational outcomes.

Sarah joined Allsports Paeditrics in 2008 to deliver the Hard Core Kids® program.

Elise Alexander

Elise joined the Allsports Physiotherapy team in 2005 working as a student aide at the Red Hill clinic whilst she completed her studies at the University of Qld. She has recently begun working in a dual role at the Indooroopilly and Sherwood clinics to pursue her passions in paediatric physiotherapy and sports injury rehabilitation.

Elise has a special interest in developmental paediatric physiotherapy following her work with children with cerebral palsy. Here she worked with a range of children from those with mild physical difficulties to marked physical and intellectual impairments. She was challenged to develop therapy sessions that would engage children in play whilst also facilitating their best physical performance. Elise found it rewarding to see the positive impact therapy had on each child’s self-esteem and their ability to interact with family and peers.

She also has a passion for musculoskeletal injury management in children and adolescents. Elise has three years experience in physiotherapy management and on field coverage of junior football codes working with children aged 5 to 17 years. She has been involved in both the acute and sub-acute management of sporting injuries. Elise is passionate about keeping children physically active in sport and play. Coming from a sporting background herself, she is dedicated to sports-specific rehabilitation to return each child safely and promptly to his or her chosen sport/activity.

Kristy Graham

Kristy joined Allsports Physiotherapy in 2005 after graduating from Griffith University with a double degree in physiotherapy and exercise science.  She has been in private practice for 5 years and she now combines her expertise in physiotherapy, pilates and exercise science to specialise in the instruction of Clinical Pilates. She is the managing partner in the new Pilates clinic Allsports Pilates Sherwood. Kristy presents at our Allsports clinical education programs and for the students of Griffith University and The University of Queensland. Kristy is currently working as a pilates instructor with the Queensland Roar soccer team.

Jennifer Spiby

Jen first discovered clinical pilates five years ago whilst studying physiotherapy at UQ.  Since graduating in 2007 Jen has completed further training in pilates and enjoys combining this with her musculoskeletal skills. Jennifer is passionate about helping patients with their rehabilitation and injury prevention.

Amy Chu

Amy graduated with honours from University of Queensland in 2006. Her research involved real-time ultrasound and the measurement of the Transverse Abdominal muscle in patients with chronic low back pain. She has further qualification and special interests in dry needling and clinical Pilates, and the benefits of these techniques when treating patients with neck and low back pain.
